Postgraduate Studentships in Modern Greek Studies 2008-9
Thanks
to a generous grant from the A G Leventis Foundation, three
postgraduate studentships are available for students who
wish to pursue a full-time higher degree programme (MPhil,
MPhil(b) or PhD) in the fields of Modern Greek (including
Cypriot) literature, language, history and culture.
Candidates should have a first class or upper second class
degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. To apply for
PhD candidates should also have completed, or be completing,
a master’s degree in a relevant subject. Applicants will be
asked to provide a detailed research proposal, two
references and a transcript of qualifications.

advice on research topics for which supervision is
available. The MPhil(b) is a research degree with taught

The studentships will
cover University fees only (at the rate applicable to UK and
EU students) and may be renewed annually subject to a
satisfactory progress report. Subsistence costs will not be
covered.

PhD Studentship in Modern Greek Studies
Thanks to a generous grant from the A.
G. Leventis Foundation, the Faculty of Modern and Medieval
Languages invites applications for a three-year postgraduate
studentship in Modern Greek Studies, beginning in October
2008. Candidates should have a first class or upper second
class degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and
should normally have completed, or be completing, a master’s
degree in order to be accepted for a PhD at Cambridge.
The fields in which applications are
invited are Modern Greek (including Cypriot) literature,
language and culture. The studentship will cover University
fees (at the rate applicable to UK and EU students), College
fees, and a maintenance grant for a maximum period of three
years. It will be renewed annually, subject to satisfactory
progress.

Applications, which must include a
detailed research proposal, should be submitted to the Board
of Graduate Studies as soon as possible, and no later than
30 April 2008, for consideration by the Degree Committee of
the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. Candidates
should also arrange for two letters of reference to be sent
on their behalf by the same date. At the same time as
submitting their application to the Board of Graduate
Studies, they should notify Professor David Holton (dwh11@cam.ac.uk)
that they wish to be considered for the A. G. Leventis
Foundation Studentship.
